A French craftsman and aficionado by the name of Philippe Emami has created a small collection of custom, stretched limousines on Cadillac chassis, built in 1:25 scale or converted (in that scale) from existing market models. He too has done a great job. Let him introduce himself :
My name is Philippe Emami. I am 38 years old (2007) and live in France, near Paris. I am an automotive designer, working for a French auto manufacturer.
Outside my work, when I am not spending quality time with my wife and new-born son, I like to build 1/25 scale models of American cars, as well as tinker with some full-sized versions, including my "Manhattan" limousine from Armbruster Stageway, a conversion from a regular 1983 Cadillac Fleetwood. It's a lot of fun to lowride these "big babies" while listening to typical music of the early seventies.
Model cars? Well, l collect them in 1/25 scale (Jo-Han, AMT, MPC , Revell etc.). Where a specific model is/was not available from these suppliers, I
just go ahead and build them myself from scratch. My next project is to finish (again in 1/25 scale) different versions of the '80s Fleetwood models as well as other high-interest cars (not necessarily Cadillacs). I also like to convert coupes to sedans and station wagons.
To give you some idea of my favorite makes and models, check out the background vehicles in the TV series, "The Streets of San Francisco," as well as in old "Dirty Harry" movies.
Many thanks to Yann SAUNDERS for allowing me to show you some of my creations on his Web site. He has done exceptional research into the Cadillac marque and has presented the results, with a lot of passion, in these pages. His site is a must for every Cadillac aficionado.
Here is Philippe's own description of how he creates his replicas and conversions:
In general I use polyurethane resin and styrene pieces to create and finish body parts. Most headlights and wheel rims come from other kits. I am in touch with many resin kits sellers in the US.
For details and dimensions, I use commercial and technical brochures to respect the proportions of the final model; respecting proportions is
very important.Colors and trim are also seen in merchandising brochures. Google and eBay are my best internet sites to get information and purchasing opportunities.
Finally, here are examples of Philippe's work
