GORDYMITE, USA

Gordymite, Hong Kong, copied the Matchbox S&S ambulance (next entry)
in plastic with blue-tinted windows

MATCHBOX, UK

t64mbamb.jpg (9026 bytes)

T64le54b.jpg (6905 bytes)     t64le54.jpg (7496 bytes)
From Lesney, UK, in the Matchbox series comes this 1964 S&S Parkway  ambulance on Cadillac chassis
(original by Hess &Eisenhardt, USA), complete with stretcher and "victim"; different editions come with
different style wheels and different sized red crosses. This just in from a very observant Database user,
Fred Swihart: the 1964 Cadillac ambulance by Matchbox shows a victim on a stretcher,
beside the car
[photo, above, left]; it does not belong to this car, but to the Matchbox
Mercedes ambulance in the same scale. It's a minor detail, but a detail all the same.

NUCOR (?)

[ missing image ]

Nucor [provenance?] also made a diecast copy of the Matchbox S&S ambulance;
details are not as fine as on the Matchbox model

MECCANO [MINI-DINKY], HONG KONG

T64midk1.jpg (8459 bytes)     T64midk2.jpg (5968 bytes)
3¼" long Coupe de Ville; it is silver with a red interior; the toy was delivered with its own, small, plastic garage;
this toy frequently suffers from a form of metal fatigue and you may find it in pieces in your showcase one day.
Silver is the most common color but it is believed to have been available also in white (never seen one)

Tmdk64cp.JPG (4163 bytes)
Here it is again with a tan interior

MATTEL, USA

T63hrshw.jpg (10290 bytes)     Tun64hrs.jpg (7490 bytes)
This 1:64 scale diecast toy issued in the late nineties by Mattel, under the Hot Wheels label,  often is wrongly described as a
1963 Cadillac hearse, whereas the rear tail-light housings obviously belong to the 1964 Cadillac; a custom version (right) was also available

T63hwhrd.jpg (5852 bytes)
Hard Rock Cafe 1964 Cadillac custom coupe with lowered roof
[ often wrongly identified as a 1963 model ]

to64idal.jpg (7248 bytes)
Battery-powered construction kit of the 1964 Cadillac Series 62 coupe for slot car
track racing; two different versions may have been available;  I have seen the
following reference numbers: 4146/7 and 4152-5; the toy is 4½" long

JO-HAN, USA

t64jopro.jpg (6746 bytes)     t64jopcv.jpg (8316 bytes)
These are the Jo-Han  (USA) promotional models for 1964; (above) the Series 62 de Ville coupe and  (below) the Series 62 De Ville convertible; both were available also as construction kits: they are 8½" long
References are #364 for the coupe and #864 for the convertible; a kit with ref. #C364:1 was also issued

t64jopr2.jpg (9054 bytes)    t64jopr3.jpg (9460 bytes)
This fine example was offered for sale on e-Bay in 2001

t64jokit.JPG (10340 bytes)
This re-issued construction kit by Jo-Han (USA) is from the eighties;
some of these have the wrong interiors (the seat pattern corresponds to the 1968 Cadillac)

One collector decided to create this "beater" from the Jo-Han kit

This one is in better condition

golden 1965 Cadillac Eldorado reported to have been designed by
George Barris of Hollywood for The King, Elvis Presley; it features
guitar-shaped sun visors, a boomerang TV antenna on the rear deck
and some of Elvis' gold records integrated in the car's convertible boot

SAKURA, JAPAN

T65saku1.jpg (11241 bytes)    T65saku2.jpg (10590 bytes)
Heavy, 5½" long toy replica of the 1965 Fleetwood  Series 60 Special sedan;
it features spring-operated suspension parts; a second model from the same company appeared a few years later
with a Taxi roof sign; the company also made two petrol lighters based on   these two models (the regular sedan

#6513, Cadillac Eldorado
( 3 in 1 customized kit),  measures 7"

UNIDENTIFIED (?)

T60unpla.jpg (5811 bytes)
This rather crude, unidentified toy in circa 1:32 scale has the rear fender
lines of the 1965-66 Cadillac as well as the vertically-stacked headlights

JO-HAN, USA

   t65jokt.jpg (6573 bytes)     t65joh.jpg (7195 bytes)
For the 1965 model year, Jo-Han again issued two models: the
Coupe De Ville and the Series 62 convertible; Ref. #1465, 8½" long

This one shows signs of having been in a nasty fender-bender
(Bill Buckingham collection, Chicago)

Convertible version of the coupe

Jo-Han  (USA) again offered the De Ville convertible, measuring 8½" long

BANDAI, USA

T65basdf.jpg (8800 bytes)     my65gold.JPG (6060 bytes)
This tinplate toy by Bandai (Japan) measures 10½" long; it depict the Cadillac Calais or De Ville coupe;
the plastic "custom" wheels give it away as a later edition (probably late seventies or early eighties)
The one on the right (discolored photo) left  is from the author's former collection

To65bdai.jpg (8016 bytes)     t65baa.jpg (10143 bytes)
Here is another version of the same basic toy, with the roof removed to create a convertible; again, these are second editions,
issued in the late seventies [the original toy had tin wheel covers, whereas this one has custom,  plastic wheels with "spinners"]

t65bac.jpg (7014 bytes)     t65bad.jpg (6183 bytes)
The front and rear clips are a mix of the 1965 and 1966 Cadillac models
Battery-powered, the toy has two levers on the front seat (below); on the right is the on-off lever and

on the left the HI-LO speed lever; you may toot the horn by pressing down on the steering wheel

t65tinb.jpg (7955 bytes)     t65tinc.JPG (7987 bytes)

my65rdcv.JPG (7069 bytes)     my65rdc2.JPG (6693 bytes)

MODERN TOYS, JAPAN

Tun65stn.jpg (9004 bytes)
This is a battery operated, tinplate replica, with plastic base, in circa 1:20 scale,
(11 inches long) of a highly unlikely 1965 Cadillac "stunt car"; battery operated

A T C, JAPAN

t65tin.jpg (8267 bytes)
This toy is similar to the more common T.N. model, below;
[Ref. #3772] and Takayama [Ref. #321]

T.N. [NOMURA?], JAPAN

t65Nom2.jpg (16649 bytes)     t65Nom3.jpg (19400 bytes)     t65Nomura1.jpg (13597 bytes)

T65tnb.jpg (7861 bytes)     T65tna.jpg (8213 bytes)     T65tnc.jpg (6178 bytes)

t65tin1.JPG (6284 bytes)     t65tin2.JPG (8584 bytes)    t65tin4.JPG (6896 bytes)    t65tin3.JPG (4989 bytes)
This large tinplate toy 1965 Cadillac sedan measuring 16½" long is among
the finest Cadillac large-scale replicas to be had.  At the height of the tinplate toy craze, in the late eighties,
a toy like this one, in fine condition, could easily fetch $2,000-3,000 ...MORE than the real thing!

Circa 1:8 Scale

T.N. [NOMURA?], JAPAN

T65asahb.jpg (11955 bytes)     T65asahi.jpg (8980 bytes)
This even larger tinplate replica of a 1965-66 Cadillac coupe [Calais/De Ville???]
is a whopping 26 inches long; it is in my opinion the finest of the large-scale, tinplate Cadillac toys
At the height of the tinplate toy craze, a toy like this one could easily fetch $4,000-5,000
The box for this toy features the Fleetwood Series Sixty Special sedan
